This update has been rightfully requested a loooooong time ago by @haraldpeter.
Might still take a while to flatten everything, add kerning and make sure the replacement works everywhere.
But tricky letters are resolved now.
An update for LTR Very Bauble! The original characterset was a bit sparse, so I added, oh, let's see, an asterism, at, sterling, questiondown, Eacute, Ohungarumlaut, Icircumflex, Scommaaccent, Lslash, Adieresis.alt and, let's see, about 2500 more of their friends! All animated with lines, thorns and pips. One axis, five masters. If you use the Affinity suite, be aware that the last update to 2.6.0 has broken the support of custom variable axes.
The sliders are only showing the defined instances and also use the internal rather than the external coordinates.
And yes I documented it and filed a complaint.

3) Traditionelle Klassifikationen bieten zwar Orientierung, werden aber der Komplexität digitaler Typografie (#VariableFont) kaum gerecht.
4) Eine universelle #Schriftklassifikation bleibt unerreichbar. Doch wie könnte ein zeitgemäßes System aussehen, das der modernen Typografie entspricht?

This week I learned about MT-Shift, a #VariableFont that is able to shift from one letter into another. Every combination, even letter to emoji or letter to pattern is possible.
It is created by the design student Simon Tuffer @simontruffer from Bern and really well documented on https://motiontype.xyz 
@glyphsapp Before that, the glyphs have been built up using a set of composites. #VariableFont #SilverCoil #ModularType
Decomposing took a long time, because the automatic function would delete all invisible part. Without decomposition, the font would glitch in many environments.
Right on time for your last minute #holiday post, we released #SilverCoil.
A rotating #VariableFont that can be loped into infinity. 
With this font, @eWalthert flies solo. Inspired by the rotating letters of Daniël, he dug out an old concept developed during the #MultipleMaster era.
Silver Coil mixes his expertise from variable font engineering, with knowledge gained by creating #AnimatedGIFs. Available via @futurefonts

After updating @fontspectrum’s #PurpleHaze and #ElectricBlue at @futurefonts this week, #NouvelleNoire has just put my new Humanist Sans Arosa online.
The amazing and fun illustrations are by Swiss illustrator Dominik Langloh.
#Arosa has been in the works for a while and will also get a Display #VariableFont and Script version next year.

It’s slightly disappointing that a variable Noto Sans (with just a weight axis) cut down to what we use on IKEA.com is 38KB, while individual bold and regular non-variable files are 21KB in total.
I guess I’d hoped that there’d be a weight saving for a single variable font over multiple static ones. But maybe that was naïve?

With the generous help of Akaki Razmadze @razmadzekoko we explored the #Georgian script and its round shapes. Irene Vlachou @irenevlachou helped with the details and characteristics of the #Greek alphabet. On top of that, we made sure that all dots are in line and order. Thanks to @romainmarc.

An actual #VariableFont that does a similar thing as Eightway is @EwonRael’s Gnomon* (indestructible type*, 2017): its shadow style has a “Time of Day” axis.

Question, should the x/y min/max values found in a #VariableFont <head> table only match the min/max values of the default instance (i.e. the font whose outlines are in the <glyf> table), or should it reflect the min/max values of the whole variable font (i.e. the extremes of the interpolation space)?
