🇨🇦A very interesting analysis of the collapse & premature rebirtth of an unchanged, consultant-led NDP in post-elections 2025, and sobering lessons for the need for a REAL left-wing political party in an echo-chamber duopoly choice between pro-Zionist centre-right(Libs/Dems) & far-right(Cons/Reps).

@mcc some argue that strategic voting is a form of ranked voting. If you know the top two, you are making your ranking choice of those two most likely candidates. The problems are imperfect information and “irrational” voting. I’d say those problems are significant enough that outcomes are different than explicit ranking.

Interestingly, I’m told #Winnipeg use to have a ranked ballot for Mayor, but dropped it.

Other thoughts
Votes=$ for a party, incentivized non-strategic voting

So, #Winnipeg

Where would one go to buy dry beans in bulk at the best possible bulk price?

We have become interested in doing a little bit of the good kind of preparation for crises, and having sufficient protein to feed ourselves and our neighbours for a few months is pretty high on my list of tasks in that vein.

We've also decided that a generator is higher priority than it used to be, though I have less worries for the moment about that, because we still own our Hydroelectric infrastructure here, and it rarely goes out, and never for more than a few hours.

It's safe at least until the next Con government. I also want to investigate these supposedly very cheap solar panels that are now available as well, and maybe start laying in a bit of local power generation/battery storage...
