I'm in #FortWilliam and at a loss where to go. West to #Arisaig the A road is too dangerous for cyclists and there are no offroad alternatives for most of the journey. East to #Ballater / #Aberdeen the A roads are also a no go for cyclists. There are offroad routes but I'm not sure if they're easy enough to ride on my heavily loaded bike.

Anyone any suggestions?

If everything else fails I'll head north along the Great Glen to Inverness, although I was going to use this as my way back and I don't like riding the same stretch twice.

Aberdeen Tunnel | Hongkong

Aberdeen Tunnel, part of Route 1, is a dual-carriageway tunnel linking Happy Valley and Wong Chuk Hang near Aberdeen on the Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong. It shortens the travel time between Wong Chuk Hang and Causeway Bay of the Hong Kong Island. It connects the Wong Chuk Hang Road and Canal Road Flyover in the Hong Kong Island. The toll plaza is at the Wong Chuk Hang end.

Souvenir yarn alert!

This is from a shop called Wool For Ewe in #Aberdeen which I definitely recommend, they had a great range and the woman who I assume is the owner was very nice.

Cookston Crafts is a local indie dyer and this is the "Silver City" colourway specifically based on Aberdeen itself, so of course I had to get it.

It's a bit more saturated irl than in the photo, a mixture of greys (for the ever-present granite buildings) and turquoise (for the cool domed roof - I think it's the art gallery?).

It will, to nobody's surprise, be petted for a while and then eventually turn into socks.

#ScotRail has launched a UK-first satellite-based Wi-Fi system on #trains in the Scottish Highlands, improving connectivity for passengers. Six Class 158 trains, running from Inverness to Wick, Thurso, Kyle of #Lochalsh, and #Aberdeen, will trial the technology for six months. Developed with Clarus Networks, the system connects to a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite network, addressing long-standing connectivity issues. Supported by the Scottish Government, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, and the Scottish Futures Trust, the project offers benefits such as improved Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi calling, GPS tracking, and on-board CCTV access. If successful, the technology could be rolled out across the Class 158 fleet and influence future train procurements. The initiative aims to boost rural digital connectivity, supporting economic resilience and growth in remote areas, in line with the #Scottish Government’s focus on improving digital services for rural communities.
