I am having a read of this - a birthday prezzie to myself - while I wait for my daughter. I figure if I really want to understand why things happen the way they do in BG3 it would be good to have a better understanding of the D & D rules. I'm doing pretty well in this playthrough, but not knowing why is frustrating me. Maybe my next playthrough after this one will finally start to make sense 😊

A little shameless plug for my friends @tieflingdio and @VulpineDruid who are creating an amazing guide to #BaldursGate3 Honour Mode.

They're legit Faerun heroes with four successful HM runs, and a fifth in progress.

Even if you're not planning an HM run anytime soon, this is a really fun (and helpful) read.

Haven't played bg3 since I got Oblivion, but my wife wanted to play a bit tonight. This whole section was pretty weird and confusing. And even though I said No every way I could to my "protector's" offer, I guess no does not mean no in this game.

Whatever. Here's my first stab at photo mode.

New #GPU! From an 8 year old rx570 8GB to a #rx9070, on #Ubuntu 25.04. Mostly great!

A local #LLM (qwen2.5 14B) using Vulkan ran at 2.1 tokens/s. It now runs at 48T/s - a 25x improvement in compute performance.

The same scene in #BG3 with maxed out 4K settings ran at 12-15fps. It now sits at 60fps, with the GPU at only 80%. *And* it uses less power doing so (system power from 295w to 275w).

Not perfect - #Valheim fails at startup. This is normal for new hardware on Linux and will be fixed.

I haven't finished Baulder's Gate 3 , but someone please tell me there is a DLC option at the end, after I save the world or whatever, that would allow me to open a used book store in town I can stock with all the books I picked up through the game.

Truths for both Life & Honor Mode:

- Once you say it, it is said.

- Mistakes will be made. How you recover from them is what's important.

- Every moment may be your last. Don't compromise your soul to 'win.'

- Risks can be fun! Or deadly. Or both.

- Just kiss them already, omfg.

I've now spent over 100 hours in BG3 and I am still in Act I 😊 To be fair, the first 80 odd hours of that were spent on my first play through, when I didn't have a clue what I was doing and recently abandoned to start again, but it was a good learning experience all the same. When things finally started to click and make sense was the battle with Aunty Ethel I think - the first one I really managed strategically - but by that time I had levelled up my crew pretty badly so the decision to start again was a good one. I have also started playing Divinity Original Sin II, which I had tried and abandoned before, and found that the lessons from BG3 really make the game work for me now.
