I have installed cleats in my new Velosambas and verified nothing rubs or strikes against the crank arms. Gonna try them out tonight! It's been a long time since I've ridden with cleats, so this should be interesting. #BikeDC
Oh, those headwinds were really unpleasant. I'm man enough to admit I turned the e-bike's assist higher than I normally would to get up 11th … and then I just left it at that level for the rest of the ride home. #BikeDC

I am shocked – shocked, I say! – that the driver who honked and rolled down his window to yell at me to "get in the bike lane" where there wasn't actually a bike lane has 7 unpaid tickets. Vehicle is a grey (Jeep Cherokee, I think?) with a dark plastic obscurer over his tags.

Return trip started with continuing up trail to Beans in the Belfry in Brunswick, the best coffee shop for 50 mi. All told, we did 66 mi today, 57 mi yesterday. Very good dry weather throughout, overnight in an unheated Lockhouse, but mummy bag was cozy. Woke up and made coffee and hot chocolate. Grateful to have the #C&OCanal so close for big adventures. Lovely way to quickly escape DC. #BikeDC #Biking

Only one near-death #bikedc experience today! Proceeding through a green light with VERY bright flashing lights on when a giant black SUV with *blue* headlights careens left, without signals, of course. Didn't even slow a bit.
