Living on the Edge, a'la Pacific Gull style.

Watched this seagull for quite a while before it stood up to reveal those 2 well camouflaged eggs.

Was thinking at the time how harsh an environment that particular spot is - facing directly into the cold south westerly winds here in the roaring forties. Yet it was ambivalent, after this shot, turning to face directly into the wind.

At the St Augustine Alligator Farm and #Zoological #Park, many birds come to nest and raise their young in the trees over the swamp filled with alligators. This kind of #mutualism sees the birds and their nests protected from other predators that might come from the ground, and alligators get them instead.
Many #birds #nest use this as a #rookery, like this #Tricolored #Heron, standing over her two #eggs.

We have new tenants in our garage.

American robins seem to have figured out that their nests are safer when they are close to (or in) human structures. North America's migratory birds are protected by an international treaty. It is a federal crime to destroy or relocate a nest, not that I would anyway. Birds need all the help we can give them.
