The boys were looking for a boardgame to play tonight, and on a whim we pulled out the old, old Avalon Hill Dune boardgame. Probably hasn't been opened in decades, but I vaguely remembered how to play it from childhood. Where I rarely played it for real.

Simon, as the Harkonnens, won in the third round as my attempt to oust him from a third stronghold failed because Lady Jessica was his traitor. Still, it may have some potential. (And it makes a change from "Root"...)

One of the things that I used to do is run board game parties for #autistic people to socialize. Many of my friends are social workers and are companions to #neurodivergent individuals.

I have a rather good sized game collection with lots of rare games but that also means it is a dated collection.

If you're into #boardgames please suggest some of your favorites.

If you're inclined to help, here are some games I've been looking at to bolster my collection.

Starting to get into Gathering of Friends times with games played on this day over the years.

Can’t believe it is 11 years since I played my 5WD prototype with @gilhova or that I never finished it off.

What #BoardGames do you really like, but you just can't win at? Whether it be solo or multiplayer?

Mine is Wayfarers of the South Tigris. I've played it 12 times against the solo AI deck, and I have NEVER won a single time. I've tried all the decks too, and I suck against every single one.

Tonight, I thought I was doing so well. It was finally going to be my time! I had so many space cards and inspiration cards... lost by 10 points.

Here are the #boardgames on the ballot for my group's Friday game night:

Pax Porfiriana
Stupor Mundi
Molly House
Robotech Reconstruction
Blood Rage
Dune Uprising
Arcs
Root
Castles of Burgundy
Amsterdam
Horseless Carriage
Caverna

The list is how I voted in order from most preferred to least. What would be your choice?

I had the chance to play 'Finspan' this weekend and was pleasantly surprised. Initially, I was hesitant, unsure how much it would differentiate itself from its predecessors, 'Wingspan' and 'Wyrmspan'.

However, 'Finspan' stands out with its streamlined gameplay and engaging mechanics. It offers a fresh experience while retaining the satisfying engine-building feel of its predecessors. Smooth, clever, and fun. Definitely worth checking out.

Next up we played Bellum Stellas by the youngest Protospieler of the weekend, Silas Hamilton, played with Kevin Levy and Mark Hamilton. While an old-style grognard #wargame was not really my thing these days, this ambitious game harkened back to that. A remarkably mature design for such a young guy, and Silas absorbed our advice like a sponge. It was great seeing his design evolve over the weekend.
