elbowcrookerThe bear pit at Sheffield Botanic Gardens was built in 1836 to house Bruin, a black bear kept there to 'entertain' visitors. The pit later became 'Yorkshire's largest compost pit'. The bear statue, beloved of Sheffield children for the last twenty years, is made of steel and is 2.4 metres tall. searching4sanityToday I met a woman who was wandering around the local botanical gardens staging pictures with figurines and small plushies. This is a carrot baiting gnome she staged in the kaleidoscope planter to show me the cool patterns it made when one looks at it through the kaleidoscope viewers.
