I see people blaming RFK Junior for the Patrick White #CDC shooting, due to antivax rhetoric

I think the Biden administration bears some culpability.

People have been told "vax and relax", and the pandemic is over.

But folk can also see themselves and loved ones getting sick, and experiencing things like sleeplessness, anxiety, memory issues, depression (etc).

So something's wrong.

Whether you blame that on the vaccine or on Covid itself likely depends on the media you consume and/or people you trust. But either way, the conclusion is officials haven't been straight with us.

Then pair that with inadequate healthcare, horrible job security, inadequate disability benefits, and easy access to guns.

All that is to say, RFK may have poured gasoline on that fire, but he didn't start it.

In the days following Friday’s shooting that targeted the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, employees have voiced new fears about the agency’s security.

People in public health are being threatened...This is nuts.

In at least six internal calls on Monday, CDC employees told leaders they worried that the agency wasn’t prepared for future threats, according to people on the calls. The potential for unauthorized individuals getting on campus or slow warnings about possible attacks were among the concerns shared with leaders.

“When threats escalate into violence, ‘carrying on as usual’ is not enough,” said a second employee. “Words of sympathy, however sincere, do not substitute for tangible action to ensure that we and our families can feel safe again.”
