Added another new #bird to my list.
The Dunlin Often found in large flocks on mudflats and beaches, sometimes mixing with other shorebirds. They travel to the Arctic tundra to breed. This one was hopping along the rocks, near what was once an island, thats now underwater on the #chesapeakebay #nikon

The Blue Angels arrive at the navel academy today! They circle from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. before rehearsing their air show from 2 to 4. The big day is tomorrow, but weather forecast is not looking good. I get a pretty good view from my little beach.

Annapolis, MD Patch · Best Places To Watch Blue Angels In Annapolis: Flight Schedule 2025By Jacob Baumgart

Clams are commercially harvested on the #Chesapeakebay. Razor clams are primarily used as bait for blue crabs in the Chesapeake Bay. Historically, softshell clams were the most abundant clam species in the Chesapeake. The clams are dredged onto the conveyor where two people pick the clams to keep and the rest are sent back into the bay.

Spent this beautiful morning running out to Bloody Point #lighthouse. Located just off the tip of Kent Island, it marks the entrance to Eastern Bay. The lighthouse stands in about seven feet of water. Close to one of the Chesapeake Bay’s deepest spots. Sometimes called Bloody Point Hole, at 174 feet deep and about 1 mile west-SW off the southern tip of #kentisland The lighthouse interior originally consisted of five rooms, one of which was located below the water’s surface. The first lighting was October 1, 1882.
According to legend it has been the scene of a number of violent events throughout #history. In the late 17th and early 18th centuries an attack happened between native Americans and British colonists.
It is also rumored that a French pirate was hung at Bloody Point. The lighthouse was destroyed by a tragic fire that nearly killed two crewman and left behind the hollow shell of iron that remains today. The lighthouse leans after a storm washed out the sand below. Despite a few unsuccessful attempts to fix the lean.
In the distance I can see the lighthouse from my little beach.
