Please report & block any #fraudulent #MutualAid posters because those spam scammers harm people like me - who are asking for help via mutual aid posts here. Please never donate to anyone before checking their profiles (including mine!). Please avoid donating to anyone who has zero posting history here. Please avoid donating to anyone who has ONLY mutual aid posts & not much else. Please forgive yourself(if you've been scammed) & learn how not to be scammed by fraudulent grifters who are playing upon peoples' compassion & abusing kind, caring folks for their own selfish & dishonest wants - not needs. Please keep helping people who are transparent & truly need mutual aid assistance.

Can anyone recommend a good domain registrar? I want something that isnt hosted in a privacy-adverse country like the US. I was originally looking at Swiss based providers, on the idea that their goverment might be more privacy oriented...maybe not so quick to hand over info.

Back in March I had moved one domain over to Infomaniak as a test. Service seemed good and reliable and I liked the idea of their document hosting. However, Im glad I held off:

Saw an article today about the Virtual War Memorial and remembered that way back in 2008 at the National Archives we hacked together Google Maps and Tumblr to enable people to upload images and stories about WWI service people. In the 6 months following the site's launch there were more than 1,000 of these 'scrapbook' posts.

The NAA later rebuilt the site, and a couple of years ago they completely removed it. You can find bits on the Internet Archive & Trove, but I don't know how many of the posts were saved...

I wrote about creating the site here: discontents.com.au/local-heroe #GLAM #archives #crowdSourcing
