What happens when it's time for performance reviews and you find that someone who isn't using AI as much is closing more tickets than someone who is? Using AI well is not a skill that one hones and gets better at over time. You'll always be limited by the abilities of the model. If developers start getting judged by how many AI suggestions they accept or reject, the inevitable result is just shittier software. And shittier software is bad for everyone, but mostly the companies whose codebases will probably be irreparably damaged. If I was a smart developer, I'd start keeping track of all companies pushing <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/GenAI" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#GenAI</a> hard on their developers and start working on alternatives for when they inevitably shit the bed and lose their users' trust.
