Given that I want to target i486 with @OS1337 but don't want to deal with obsolete hardware that is dying of old age, I think it's more fitting to consider a sort-of mainboard to shove some 486SX-SOM with PC/104-Plus on and have the few necessities hooked up to it. Maybe even put it inside a THINN #Pizzabox-style #case?

It would also make a new "bridge" machine to interface old PCI & ISA hardware and allow connecting i.e. a #QuadFlop and roll with that...

This pocket-sized PC is made from an old smartphone motherboard

You often hear that the phone in your pocket has more processing power than the room-sized computers that NASA used to help send astronauts to the moon. But modern smartphones also have relatively limited lifespans – while some device makers are doing a better job of offering long-term support, it’s often cheaper or easier to replace an old phone than it is to fix a cracked display or replace […]

@steamdeckhq OFC #GameDevs love the #SteamDeck because it's an #affordable, #powerful and easy to develop for #handheld that is using #amd64 architecture, so it's easy to "port" to it.

  • Add to the fact that it's basically the "low end bar" for #LinuxGaming for 5-10+ years and we can all agree that #IndieDevs get the best of both worlds (#Consoles & #PC) in an affordable package and without the need to sigh a gazillion NDAs and pay huge deposits just to get a single #TestKit-Style #DevKit.

The SteamDeck took the right lessions from #XNA & #OUYA and positively disrupts #Gaming on #Linux and #MobileGaming too...

In that sense, #Valve's #SteamDeck acts kinda similar as it's a tool to make #Steam users buy more games, play more games and acquire new customers that don't want or can't afford a #PC or #laptop.

It also acts as a #devkit and #baseline for #LinuxGaming and Valve deciding not to make it a walled garden is a decision aimed to cultivate the #parasocial relationship with their customer base that they want to make believe to be friends with...

@Lulukaros @chrisoffner3d @vaartis np.

In case of #Sony I did have a chance to look into the documentation when setting up a #DevKit according to their specs for a client.

In fact, whilst rudimentary #OpenGL is supported on #PS3 and up, #PSSL (PlayStation Shader Languague) is the prefered option to do shaders and even physics, and Naighty Dog really leveraged the #Cell SPEs for physics effects.

Which are notoriusly hard to develop for...
