This whole #techturnover is fun to watch. All sorts of cool shit. AI killing the #music and #photography industries. But it's so bad that everyone is both looking to see how to use it, and watching out for #consequences. #AI 101... don't tell it to help you with stuff you're #inventing. If you do, others will benefit from your #discovery before you ever #discovered it.... that's why Google doesn't allow it's #Employees to use it's own AI.

He #Solved a 300-year-old #Botanical #Mystery when he #Discovered that #Vanilla was #Pollinated by the #Melipone ("meh-lip-in-ah") #Bee, a #Social & stingless bee #Native to #Mexico. Like #Monarchs + #Milkweed, they #CoEvolved over #Time.

In 1841, Edmond Albius, a 12-year-old slave discovered that Vanilla could be pollinated w/ a #Blade of #Grass or stick. Today almost all vanilla is hand-pollinated.

It was popular w/ the #Ladies & the sage of the #Season.

When a #Botanist asked where the #Plant was #Discovered, the man answered:

"I found it on the #Road beside us, so I #Christened it the Rhodum sidus."

Currently we know of more than 5000 #exoplanets #discovered using a variety of techniques and survey instruments. So far most have been found using the #TransitMethod where we look for tiny dips in #starlight as one of its #planets passes in front of it. However this method tends to more easily pick out planets that are large (like #Jupiter) and close in to their #HostStar - making them #HotJupiters. We have no planets like that in our #SolarSystem, but there are other methods we can use. (2/n)
