Oh my goodness, I've done it! I FINALLY finished this blouse, and sewed the buttons onto this stashbuster top in black, white and red (used up last of two remnants). These are both DONE!
Phew... what a relief. It took months and months...

Now I can look for more WIPs that I wanted to finish for a long time. I'm great at having creative ideas, but terrible at getting things finished and done.

Phew.

I'm looking for a good pattern for a chemise.

Any of my seamstress friends have one they like?

Fabric will be linen.

End result something along these lines. I can adjust the sleeve length and curve myself if I can find a good pattern for the body.

I found this online and can adjust length but I've never sewn in gussets like this before.

My hand made variation on the Pretty As A Pea Dress from @emmydesignsweden. I did some hand smocking on the yokes, technique kindly supplied by @betty_sparkles_sewing_fun. This colour is hard to capture. It's a nice dark green, not petrol.

I used a lekala pattern as a base and picked the sleeves from #Simplicity8506.

Fabric is a polyester crepe from @driessenstoffen.nl

My shoes are my beloved Juliette from @memeryshoes.

I have a confession to make. I wasn't quite able to finish my cape before the concert; the lower edge needed top-stitching. However, said lower edge is 4.6 metres long, so I didn't have time to do it. Instead, I tacked it up on the inside temporarily; it was pretty much invisible, as I used a thread that matched the lining so closely that it was quite hard to see it to take it out again.

Today I did finish the top-stitching, so the cape is complete!

A few years ago, I bought one of those bumper bags of cheap embroidery threads. You know, the ones where the threads come in what appears to be every conceivable shade until you actually start trying to do embroidery with them, and then you realise you can't quite make it work.

They are, on the other hand, absolutely great for making buttonholes. 😁

#WeekendSewingClub starting very on-brand with the kind of pattern adjustments that are why I learned to make my own clothes in the first place. In this case: “nice dress… if only it had an A-line skirt!”

Next step: add #pockets.

Watch this space… the fabric is going to be a little bit special! 😻

Also, I must get some more masking tape, because the dinosaur washi tape isn’t going to last long at this rate!

I’ve made a start on the floral satin dress, but I’ve been taking it slow with long sleeps between, because I’m starting my new (old?) job tomorrow, so energy-budgets are tight! Mostly I’ve been cutting out, interfacing, stay-stitching the fluttery, fluid viscose, and (thankfully not many) darts.

Here’s the pattern photo, and the bodice front, to give you a flavour of how the floral will look.

Half-circle skirt is finished!!

I think, now I'm wearing it, I could have comfortably made it shorter and saved myself the trouble I had finding enough fabric left over for the waistband, but I wanted to make sure I could be comfortable in it not baring my knickers to the neighbourhood when I'm lounging in the garden, and there's certainly no danger of that.
