I've had some folks asking about my various scanning solutions and thought I'd toss out a reminder that my newest scanning table is now available! It's for folks using the Raleno PLV-S116 light source and is designed to fit around the light. Tops are available from 35mm up to 4x5. I don't have a particular top you're looking for, decent chance I'll be able to make it for you too!

Available on my direct storefront (bitbybitphoto.com) but will be making it's way over to Etsy soon as well!

My new scanning table that uses the Raleno light pad is now available (as an open beta). I've tested this myself and have sent this out to a few folks in a closed beta but decided to go ahead and open things up to others that might be interested in being among the first to try it out. It currently supports 35mm, 6x6 and 4x5 though I will be adding more sizes soon (and can make other formats upon request).

It's currently only available on my direct store (link in bio) but is discounted from the normal price since it is a beta.

Folks will need to buy their own Raleno PLV-S116. I may eventually offer this as a package deal but for the moment you'll have to grab one up separately (it can be found in several places).

Quick peek at what I think is the final version of my new DSLR scanning solution which uses the Raleno light tablet. This was on mine brightness so I could manage to take a quick snap on my phone but the tablet is BRIGHT. I have a black and white frame here but the Raleno has a reportedly high CRI and should be good for C41 and color slides.

The main change from my last prototype is I've base the film bottom just a little thinner but added support bracing along the back to keep it sturdy and flat. I have also found that I don't think I need to worry too much about needing to use magnets to keep films flat. There would be some edge cases I might want to test still but not having magnets keeps the cost and time to make these down.

But again don't worry, as I've mentioned before, the existing DSLR Scanning Tables will still be available. This is for folks who want tidier solution, want to use one solution for 35mm up to 4x5 or perhaps already have the Raleno panel.

It's currently in beta test now but should be available soon!

I'm posting too much about products, I know! Sorry! I'm just so excited about the new stuff I'm working on it's hard not to share! And it's been a bit of a drought in terms of getting to take a photos as of late (other than the product ones). So hopefully folks can forgive lots of products and fewer photos. I'll get back to sharing photos soon I'm sure (I finally fixed my water leak in my darkroom, so that's nice!)

But since I am sharing! Here's the CAD of what the 35mm version of the Raleno scanning thing looks like!

Instead of finger notches that I use for my current scanning tables, I switched to tabs here which can work for both lefties like myself and righties (just flip the top the other way around). The Raleno stand is also shorter but should still clear the knobs on the back.

This is going so well that tomorrow I may look at printing these in black filament and installing magnets. Given the larger size of the top, the magnets might no longer be required but I think it's a nice touch just the same.

Update to my Raleno scanning table prototype!

I'm getting excited about this one! This is the first printed prototype for what would/will be the 4x5 version of the Raleno scanning table...thing. I chose 4x5 just because it uses the least plastic. Being a prototype I printed it in some spare filament (hence the pink) but the final version would, of course, be black.

It just needs a few tiny tweaks and I think it'll be basically ready to go! I haven't compared the CRI side by side with my Kaiser but it looks pretty good to me and I've heard really good feedback from the Raleno (especially given the cost). Plus it is BRIGHT for its size.

If I sell this it wouldn't be _with_ a Raleno but they are easy enough to pick up. The base itself could be use for other scanning solutions too, not just mine. Of course, I'll have my other DSLR scanning tables for folks using different lighting solutions as well.

A customer who bought one of my DSLR Scanning Tables recently gave me a fantastic idea! Here's a CAD prototype of a 4x5 scanning table that uses the Raleno PLV-S116 light panel. You plonk the Raleno onto the stand, then place the base on top and finally the top. The base and top are similar to my normal DSLR scanning tables, but this way the whole thing is self contained. I'm already printing a real prototype though still need to work out a way to easily lift the top off and on. I'll probably use a tab instead of a finger notch like on my existing tables. The stand can be reused for all formats but the base and top would still be format specific (35mm, 120, and 4x5).

I'm not sure if this will end up being a product or not but I'm liking the idea so far!
