Wildly torn moss is a sure sign of early spring. It shows that the insects are reappearing. Birds looking for food close to the ground (mostly blackbirds, sparrows in my #garden) know where to find the best prey: under and in moss cushions, where the spring sun warms insects up. They will clean up only later, when spring has really arrived. Then moss builds a favourite
This day exploded with snowdrops, bees, insects, and the first Red Admirable butterfly (Vanessa atalanta). Since my early childhood, it's my ritual to fill the first seen #flowers after winter into this vase. The snowdrops in our village date from the 1920s. A wonderful scent, the bees are powdered with pollen! If it's too cold, snowdrops are self-pollinators.
