Ok what are boosts on #Pixelfed doing? I've never seen boosts from someone else and when I boost something I have no idea where I (or my followers) can see these. Any ideas?

Another thing i am unable to find while using #Pixelfed via Browser on my Smartphone :
I can not see anywhere:
-My comments
-what i liked or boosted
-marked/safed posts.
There are no buttons, pages, sides on my profile or anywhere.
Is that different on desktop?
If i cannot access the list of marked posts/boosts on my phone... That'd be strange, since i think that Pixelfed is optimized for Smartphone?! (is it not?).
I am considering whether to activate the option for the automated post deletion. To those who already do it: why do you do it? What are the reasons? #privacy ?
The news about the UK direction for Apple to build a backdoor into e2e encryption all brings to question:
What do we do as regular tech users?
How do we know if something is really encrypted, or whether there are back doors built in, which will leave us vulnerable to crime, authoritarian starts and more when companies are mandated to not declare backdoors?
Hello, #FediFriends ^__^ I'm thinking of moving away from pixelfed.social (atm mostly in the hope that it will take away from server load).
Does anybody know about a good #Pixelfed instance that has strong values (that they're actually enforcing by blocking / defederating) regarding racism, sexism, trans-hate and other bigotry? (Or instances to avoid?)
@BildungSicher Gern schreiben, wo es Probleme / Missverständnisse gibt, ich denke Leute hier helfen gern. Wenn ich mich nicht irre sind die passenden Hashtags (hier recht wichtig) #FediQuestion und #FediHelp?
I have a question about how federation works, and I feel like I probably asked before so either I didn't get an answer or I got one that didn't "stick."
How does it work? I see a lot of "please boost this post so my instance can federate."
Does that do it? Or does someone from another instance have to FOLLOW that person to get them federated to that other instance?
Or is it enough for that person on the new instance to start following folks on other instances?
I really thought it had to do with the following part, not the boosting part.
Do I know anyone that hosts a #peertube? I'm thinking of hosting one myself for <insert secret project> and even after reading the documentation I'm still not entirely sure what it does. It hosts videos but how do people find them? Does it work like Mastodon? People have home servers and they subscribe to feeds? Does the server admin decide what feeds the server shows?
Is it even a reasonable thing to host your own if you want people to actually see your videos?
I still didn’t get any answers so far, and there’s a Github bug report that has been unanswered since Nov 5, 2023: https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon-ios/issues/1145
I would *really* like to know how it is possible to keep URL parameters (like Invidious’ &local=true) and anchors when Mastodon generates a preview. For now, I just prevent previews from being created by adding an image, but that is not always possible and can lead to a lot more effort than simply posting something.

Does anyone know why Mastodon strips away almost any URL parameters when generating a preview?
Not only things like, with Invidious, &local=true (which makes sure that YouTube clips are proxied), but also in-page anchors even. Linking a certain part of a one-pager sometimes only makes sense when you jump to the respective anchor.
Compare text link and preview here:
Anyone know any cool not-white and/or not-male #Linux #Youtuber (or #Peertuber?
My son's partner wants to learn #python, what's a good place for beginners these days? I don't think they have any #coding experience at all.

Is there anyway to block or mute an entire server, like *@example.com?
Hi, #linux friends ^__^ Is there any (not-Ubuntu-based …) #distro that supports #NixOS-style „Oops, an update/I destroyed the system let's roll back“ out-of-the box. I know this is possible with #btrfs, #timeshift and other tools but I was wondering if there's a distro that includes this as a build-in feature (with a gui)? #FediQuestion #LinuxQuestion
What bothers me a bit about Mastodon is that there’s no way of experiencing discussions that develop from posts I have read. Is there a way (even if it’s part of some 3rd party app) that solves this? E.g. making older posts reappear in the timeline once more than x replies were generated?
Do any of the various #federated socials have the ability for a user to "watch" a post for updates (replies) without replying to the post yourself?
Sometimes I'll see a post where someone asks an interesting question, the answer to which I hope to see - however I have nothing of value to contribute, so I don't post.

EDIT: I didn't do anything and it seems to work¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Might as well ask here too.
Currently, my personal account (@theotime812) is the only admin account, and the first account that was created on this instance. I've tried giving admin rights to a new account (@Admin), by setting it as moderator, then setting isAdmin
to true in the database, then restarting the server. However, @Admin doesn't seem to be able to see the user info page (I get "An error has occured" on the page and "You are not an admin" in the console). Any idea of what I did wrong?

If I would like to know how well a specific link is getting used, are there easy ways to "design" such a link?
Basically I'd like to make a sticker with a link to my podcast, but I would also like to know if people are using the link at all.
I don't want to collect any data outside of how many time the link on the sticker was used.
What the easiest way to do that?
