One of my colleagues visiting from Singapore has this #folding #android phone, the Oppo N5 and it's incredible.

I've always found the folding phones feel like prototypes. Distracting fold down the middle of the screen and chonky bodies.

This is amazing. Folded it's as thin and light as a standard phone. Unfolded it's huge and the fold disappears.

Would love to supercede my separate tablet that I use for reading.

I want one but AUD$2,500. Yerk.

Desert Geology, Desert X 2025, Coachella Valley, California

Desert X is produced by The Desert Biennial, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization founded in California, conceived to produce recurring international contemporary art exhibitions that activate desert locations through site-specific installations by acclaimed international artists. Its guiding purposes and principles include presenting public exhibitions of art that respond meaningfully to the conditions of desert locations, the environment and Indigenous communities; promoting cultural exchange and education programs that foster dialogue and understanding among cultures and communities about shared artistic, historical, and societal issues; and providing an accessible platform for artists from around the world to address ecological, cultural, spiritual, and other existential themes.

"I took much pains in sorting and folding of papers."

I agree so very very much, Sam. The folding part is often overlooked. A paper that is being put to use must be folded. It's a mark of recognition and appropriation. The unfolded paper is alien, the folded paper is trusted.

[The truth, I'm not sarky.]

Psyched to shoot my first roll of large format film on my “new” camera from 1917-ish: a Kodak “No. 2 Folding Autographic Brownie” (sez so, right on the handle). Only 8 pics/ roll, cuz they’re like 4 inches! Shooting Ilford 400 speed B&W. Will find a way to use the timed shutter: release once to open, release again to close.

B&H Photo Video closes at ONE on Fridays, not at THREE as I keep thinking. Got there at 1:30 and boy was I sad. Walked to 36th & 5th, to "42nd Street Photo" on 36th Street, natch, where I paid more than twice for B&W 120 roll film. Boy are my dogs tired (I live 46th/ 10th).

I posted how I'm struggling to fold some origami models of complex polyhedra.

I have an idea which involved folding them from tracing paper.

I've folded them before, using 200gsm watercolour paper.

When that paper is coated with cyanotype before folding, you can get a metamorphogram.

Here's John Montroll's 'Gamma Star' during exposure, and as a final image.

Pattern and chaos.

Here's the crease pattern in paper for John Montroll's Dimpled Snub Cube.

And then there's the chaotic failed collapse of it into a 3D shape.

I've folded these before, and it's an interesting fight, wrestling a sheet of paper into form.

Practice makes polyhedra.

Sometimes things fail.

I've been trying to get back into origami practice with John Montroll's - 'A Constellation of Origami Polyhedra' (johnmontroll.com/books/a-const).

Using 75 cm squares of tracing paper made it harder - wrong paper for these models.

The crease patterns are beautiful - this is for a Sunken Cuboctohedron. But I've failed to fully fold them into 3D shape.

But it's OK. Sometimes things fail.

Two more Antique Cameras I have added to my Collection

The Kodak Junior Six-16 Series ll Produced from 1938-1949 - Original Cost $12.00 - Used 616 film
