Strypey<p>It's also a great example of why fragmenting the total pool of people using decentralised social networks across multiple protocols is such a regressive idea. The social web as a whole is growing apace. xRVAx :rva:<p><span class="h-card"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@daarin" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>daarin</span></a></span> one of the killer apps for me on <a href="https://dmv.community/tags/twitter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>twitter</span></a> was the ability to learn about events in real time from people I am not connected with. For example, <a href="https://dmv.community/tags/emergencymanagement" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>emergencymanagement</span></a> functions, where an hurricane goes through <a href="https://dmv.community/tags/virginia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>virginia</span></a> and I am able to see in real time what others are experiencing through the <a href="https://dmv.community/tags/vawx" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>vawx</span></a> hashtag. It seems like with Masto, someone could be tooting with the <a href="https://dmv.community/tags/vawx" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>vawx</span></a> hashtag but I won't be able to see this information because of <a href="https://dmv.community/tags/fediverse" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>fediverse</span></a> <a href="https://dmv.community/tags/fragmentation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>fragmentation</span></a> ... I know you're saying it's a feature, not a bug, but that just is my point. Mastodon is not Twitter. ... So I'm grappling with adjusting my expectations and figuring out how to use Mastodon in a non-twitter way.</p>
