I took a new clipping of the plant we grew from a clipping from the plant that Bellana grew from a clipping from her step mother’s plant. It’s been sitting in water near a window for weeks and the cats have been terrorizing it. They drink the water, they knock the clipping out of the glass. It’s terrible. I assumed the attempt was going to fail, but I didn’t throw it out. I just left the glass of water with the clipping by the window. Two days ago I checked it after neglecting it for almost a week and there are two new roots sprouting off of it! Success!
196/365I just ordered some potting soil and a little pot. Hopefully it survives long enough for them both to get here so I can pot this babie!

Quick check of the nursery reveals the amount of work I'll have over the weekend to sort out all these seedlings. Hundreds of them are in need of transplantation into individual cells, and trays need to be moved around between grow lights and windowsill to pace their growth and maintain vigor. Still good 2 months to go before I'll be able to move them outdoors but so far so good...
Seedlings too tight to mention
Oh, seedlings, seedlings, seedlings, seedlings
"Simply Green" puns aside, these are all what most would know as "Peri-peri", lovely-tasting Capsicum Frutescens at just the right heat levels (~ 100-150k SHU) for #sriracha. They produce fruits throughout the season. I'm unable to cull my trays of surplus seedlings by chucking the weaker ones away so now I ended up with 4 instead of 2 trays of 24 seedlings each. Whatever I'll do with all of them??
Too windy outside and preparing to rain so I'm satisfying my "green itch" indoors. This is one of a couple of my indoor #chili seedling patches with some of my favourite varieties at various stages of development that I just moved to individual cells / pots the best that I could, space permitting. They seem to be happy :)
#Today, the cactus wizard works her magic.
I can’t do indoor plants…it’s bonsai and outdoor shrubs/trees I even attempt. But my spouse seems to have a magic touch on these “Christmas Cactuses”. Her “secret” is to let them have a few months out in the garden every summer…and I sparingly water them and fertilize them with the rest of the bonsai.
They often look weak and lethargic by summers end…almost sun-beat…when I bring them in in the early fall. Then when they get into more subdued light and even temps they do this…every year!
Not sure what I did right, but this cactus is going crazy with flowers this year.
