Trying out the new Hold Assist feature in #iOS26 and am not thrilled so far.

It recognizes when hold music begins, then offers to basically mute the call and notify you when someone starts talking.

But if ANYthing starts talking, it vibrates the phone and my Watch as if a human has picked up—such as automated messages like “we answer all calls in the order they are received.”

I’m trying out the new dynamic lock screens in #iOS26 at the moment, couldn’t be arsed to select some specific photos so I let it use the “featured” ones (photos my phone has decided are good/interesting).

There’s some misses, but a lot of really nice ones too, photos I haven’t looked at in a long time. The clock font varies depending on the picture it’s overlapping, and stretches to fit different spaces and shrinks as you scroll up through notifications. And it support Spatial Scenes so the images move as you pick your phone up. I like it.

Wow! Just installed the #iOS26 #ipados26 public beta on my 4th generation #iPad #iPadPro 12.9. For a writer who needs multiple easily moveable and resizeable windows, this is a game changer. It makes my old iPad closer to using my #Mac, whilst being portable and small. I especially appreciate the discrete red-yellow-green upper left buttons, and it makes everything so navigable.

Since it is a beta, I know it will have issues, but if this is a good reflection of the final in September, you will want this.

Another #ios26 feature I’m loving is Spatial Scenes, where it takes a 2D photo and 3D-ifies it.

I first noticed it in the photos widget on my Home Screen, I tilted my phone and the background of the photo moved, I could see behind the people in the photo! It’s really well done, the only time I’ve noticed any weird artefacts is in a pic of our cat Diego.

I’m starting to get very worried here. #ios26
