Here's how to release the insect: carefully place a glass jar over the bumblebee/insect. Then, very carefully and slowly, slide a thicker piece of paper or thin cardboard underneath. Then step outside with the jar. Then release the insect in a suitable location.

That's not a pretty butterfly. Yes, its wings are beautiful, the colors and the ornaments. But when I get close, they fold the wings so that only the dark areas are visible. Better camouflage, I guess. Too cold to fly away.
He survived the winter. That butterfly's had a piece of a life.

When your daily routine involves walking the dog in the same location, finding photographic inspiration can be a challenge, but today I took just a macro lens with extension tube, and ringflash.
The extension tube forced me to focus on stuff up close.
People often tend to overlook the small details in the world around them, even in familiar places.
It was a cool day, so I was lucky and found this moth resting on a grass seed head. I didn't move, nor did the dog rush through and disturb the grass.
