@mapu @Sunshine
I've been using #JOSM for almost 18 years so am the wrong person to ask, but still have a copy of the cheat sheet on the wall:
wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Fi

Get the basics, keep hitting ESC, then explore layers (old maps are great), then explore plugins (e.g. buildings_tools, terracer, UtilsPlugin2).

The secret is to keep hitting ESC & A & S!
* Left hand - ESC/ A/ S
* Right hand - Mouse

#JOSM can also be used with macro keyboards - useful repeat features on #OpenStreetMap .

If you're the type of person who maps power infrastructure in OpenStreetMap, you may be interested in my new PowerNetworkTools plugin:

github.com/openinframap/josm-p

The first tool allows you to estimate the voltage of a substation busbar from aerial imagery. Full details in the git README. Hopefully more tools available soon!

Available wherever you usually get your JOSM plugins (i.e. the settings dialog).

@Irelephant at least .osm files can be loaded in #JOSM, but if your extract is big enough (say, a city or bigger), it might clog it, since it will try to render _everything_. It's mostly aimed at loading changesets, not whole areas.

After that, it seems like you can convert the pbf into a SQLite/Spatialite DB and load it in #QGis, but you're already transforming the data.

EDIT: yay! Federation works! (Answered from Mastodon :)

Couple years ago I got sad every time I saw a good person I know fall for crypto and NFT. Now I get sad seeing good developers falling for AI.

I understand it is hard to resist huge corporations shoving it in your face, but we have more brains and love for people than corporations, we can know better.

(this is about #JOSM, yes.)
