Some Bees on a Warm Summer Day

Bees sleeping last night and a leafcutter on the rudbeckia this morning. Melissodes agilis and some kind of Megachile.

I’m interpreting #InsertAnInvert2024 a little loosely again. You won’t necessarily find these bees in leaf litter, though you might as they do make nests in the ground or in hollow twigs, but they definitely can be found near our homes, using leaves, so here we are.

Himself, a male solitary leafcutter bee, snoozes by the nest entrance. Warm summer breeze on his face. Hit the nectar a bit hard the night before and a bit worse for wear. Content in his slumber having hazy dreams of flowers.
