Oh, man. I missed this story when it happened. Phil Liggett did the Olympics for Australian TV and has announced this will be his last Olympics. I don't think he's announced it yet, but he certainly hinted this year's #leTour was his last. It's an end of an era for cycling. An era that has lasted my entire life. I love me some #bobke, but it won't be the same without Phil. (Just as it was never the same without Paul, rest his soul, and again with due respect to Bob.) youtu.be/8x9qHPBrYlM?si=0v9kZv

I just watched this clip at least a dozen times, first to spot Phil, then to watch Phil, and finally to watch Mark to see if he noticed/acknowledged Phil. Phil's love of and deep respect for Mark has been right there on his sleeve for years now and it was quite touching how he wanted to step away from the microphone to have a private moment saying farewell to Mark's career riding #letour youtube.com/clip/UgkxAm1jx1Ajx

1st of July Tour de France passed near the workplace, so i went to see the passage (by bike of course).
The passage itself lasted like 10, maybe 15 seconds? But it was an emotion to be there to see many champions i use to see just on tv.
Some pics from the passage:

Managed to watch the opening 100km of #LeTour but am now away on a ferry to begin a long journey to Switzerland and a couple of weeks work (and some play) in the mountains. This is good but actually quite gutted to be missing the first couple of weeks.

“It's a different race, you need to prepare well mentally, and I think this year will be different”
“The level of the riders especially in sprint stages, it's crazy. (On the Giro) the #peloton starts to gear up for the sprint 10km (from the finish) but on the Tour it starts 55, 60 km (from the line).
"The best sprinters in the world are here”
