Randomly decided to watch Ip Man for the first time this afternoon, which is kind of a depressing movie but the kung fu action is fantastic at every turn so that's hard not to really enjoy even among the warfare and famine and dark color grade.

I'm a big fan of redemption stories. They remind us that there's no such thing as a "bad person". Even people who have done really bad things are capable of changing their perspective, taking responsibility for their past, and doing everything they can to make it right.
This is why I loved the original Star Wars trilogy, and none of the spinoffs made since have been as satisfying for me. It's also why I've enjoyed every season of Cobra Kai.

guys, here is a question -
how old do you think you should be to still be able to do the strength training?
and particularly to do the arm balances or other calisthenics?
what could motivate you to workout?
(i think the fear is the strongest motivation)
what's your thoughts in general about aging and being able to workout?
- do you think you can be too old to workout or is it okay at any age?
- and what kinds of workouts at what age is ok?
- what do you think about martial arts and how good or bad they are to get fit? (i think many do not work for this goal but may make you feel better mentally. also for many you need to train strength and stretch additionally to be better in it)
(and.. how old do you think I am?)

Help me out #fediverse, I’m trying to find a YouTube video to show someone that I saw years ago and can’t find now.
It was a #film student analysing the directorial and editing styles of Hong Kong and American #martialArts #movies, focussing on a few #jackieChan scenes. It looked at things like how the camera follows a fighter’s fist as he pulls back and punches, vs a long shot that loses the movement, and how the Hong Kong fighters move so quickly, and telegraphing reactions.
Any ideas?
I finished reading "The Invention of Martial Arts" by Paul Bowman (https://academic.oup.com/book/40527?), and that was not a great read.
I've posted before on how the writing was terrible, but the ideas were sometimes quite interesting.
The author covered not only how much of our ideas are coloured by things like the media mania surrounding Bruce Lee, but also ads and music videos. Quite odd that within the latter, martial arts is always played for laughs.
