SabineIn the meadow behind my parents’ house, we had set two garden chairs as far back as they would recline, facing each other. My father brought the cushions and blankets in the wheelbarrow. Two thick blankets served as a mattress, with two large cushions to lean against. Her legs and feet rested on mine, so at least we wouldn’t be bothered by the thistles. Over us, a sleeping bag, but our eyes fixed on the sky.<br> <br> We lay there for an hour and a half, until the moon rose, so bright that almost no shooting star could outshine it. I saw six, Lola saw four. We saw one together, so bright and so large that it drew a line from the south all the way to the north. It lasted so long that we both managed to sigh “ooohhh” three times before it faded.<br> <br> Lola turned onto her side: “Let me know when another one falls.” I stayed there for a while longer, until I had to gently wake her, because it was time to go to bed.<br> <br> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/stars?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#stars</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/stargazing?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#stargazing</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/space?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#space</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/universe?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#universe</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/summer?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#summer</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/meteor?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#meteor</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/perseiden?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#perseiden</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/perseids?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#perseids</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/shootingstars?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#shootingstars</a>
