@bshankar Depends on the actual NEED. There are 3-4 common paths that we see: 1. Remove the NEED, maybe it wasn't that important anyway 2. Replace Google Push with #UnifiedPush 3. Replace Play Services with #microG 4. Replace the camera/QR lib with a FOSS one.

@nixCraft I'm running @calyxos which has @microg installed as a Google Play Services drop in. All my non-foss apps which I really need, including my banking app work. Saw there are some tutorials to install #microg on any android phone as well...

@Andi_Berlin /e/OS ist meines Wissens ein Derivat von #lineageos deshalb läuft es auch auf so vielen Geräten. Da komme ich gerade her.

Mir war es zu instabil: Nach Updates fielen Funktionen oder Apps ohne Vorwarnung aus. Kann aber natürlich auch an meinem speziellen Gerät gelegen haben.

Ein anderer Punkt: #microg statt Google ist super, aber manche Apps, die mir wichtig sind liefen so nicht (richtig). Jetzt habe ich Google in ner Sandbox, da spioniert es in Leere, aber die Apps laufen.

E os has a built in tracker blocker with pr app configuration and optional ip hiding. You can use nextcloud under your own control instead of the murena service if you want to. There is no google play, rather #microg which partially implements google play. Most apps are aos, mail is a k9mail clone. I think quite nice privacy.

Ja, so wird man als App-Anbieter natürlich nicht unabhängiger. Als Benutzer könnte man es mit #MicroG versuchen (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/MicroG)

@microg even have their own @LineageOS build with microg and @fdroidorg build in. Available on https://lineage.microg.org/

Die meisten werden sich natürlich funktionieren, aber es gibt einige Apps, insbesondere Banking Apps, die evtl. nicht funktionieren. Oft kann man das lösen, wenn man #microg verwendet.

@fb @klappspatack /e/os läuft hier seit Jahren und wird gerne genutzt. Einzelne Apps verweigern leider auch mit #microg als google ersatz weiter den Dienst, aber das meiste geht.

Ich selbst bin gerade zu #grapheneos gewechselt, das an sich googlefrei läuft, aber auch die Google-Dienste (im Original) in eine Sandbox sperrt. Die meiste Zeit laufen die Dienste hier nicht mit, aber wenn dann nur kurz und im Sandkasten.

Get a NAS with #Docker support (like #TrueNAS. You can install web-services like @nextcloud which is a completely self hostable Google Drive/Google Docs replacement with addons to extend functionality.

#DuckDuckGo is currently the best search engine that isn't self hosted however #SearXNG is self hostable and very customisable.

#OSMAnd (customisable) or #OrganicMaps (straight forward) for Maps. Both use #OpenStreetMaps

#Android replacement, well Android. I personally recommend @calyxos which comes with an open source replacement to emulate Play Services called #MicroG

Although #Proton is technically a great service, CEO has come out as a Trump supporter so I'll leave that to your personal opinon. Another good service is @Tutanota

Kleines Update. Also ich hab das Handy doch noch mal komplett platt gemacht, um dann die #LineageOS Version drauf zu machen, die #microG schon mit drin hat.
Unfassbar, wie gut alles funktioniert. Eben noch die Banking-App umgezogen. Als App-Store verwende ich jetzt neben #fdroid den #aurorastore - also für ne anonyme Session zum Playstore. Also nicht gaaaaanz google-frei aber das reicht mir so.
Bis auf die Einschränkung, dass ich meine Threema-Lizenz ausm Playstore und die gekaufte DWD-App nicht mehr nutzen kann hab ich null komma null Einschränkungen.

Das alte Handy dient jetzt nur noch n paar Wochen zur Sicherheit, falls ich irgendwas vergessen hätte. Dann wird das auch befreit und dann zieh ich wieder um, weil hier am Ersatzhandy der Knopf ausgeleiert ist (geht eher Richtung 1st World Problem).

Arbeitskollegen sind schon scharf auf das Gerät, weil die das selbst austesten wollen. Mission erfolgreich :)
