Brook Miles<p>Two years ago I grew some Japanese maples from seeds I picked up around the neighbourhood <a href="https://sunny.garden/@brook/109356392494194372" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">sunny.garden/@brook/1093563924</span><span class="invisible">94194372</span></a></p><p>Only two have managed to survive me not giving them enough water and shade during the past couple of scorching summers. They're getting cramped in their little pot and one isn't doing so well this spring, probably crowded, and also the soil they are in is just whatever random potting soil I had on hand at the time, not ideal.</p><p>I picked up a couple of nice pots from a bonsai shop this weekend and asked what they recommended for soil, and they said just straight akadama is all you need for maples, so that's what I'm going with.</p><p>Fingers crossed they survive the re-pot and hopefully the weaker one pulls through. :momiji: </p><p><a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/momiji" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>momiji</span></a> <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/maple" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>maple</span></a> <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/bonsai" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bonsai</span></a></p>
