Schools in Spain will be required to serve fruit, vegetables and fish in the fight against obesity.

All schools in Spain will be legally obliged to serve fruit and vegetables as part of their lunches and fish at least once a week under new rules aimed at reducing the amount of fried and fatty food, and levels of sugar and caffeine in drink served to children.

New Review and Meta-Analysis confirms weight gain with discontinuance of #Semaglutide and #Tirzepatide

Discontinuing GLP1 medications led to a pooled overall mean weight regain of 9.69 kg (or about 22 lbs in patients prescribed semaglutide/tirzepatide. The proportion of weight regained was proportional to the amount originally lost.

Discontinuation of GLP-1RA treatment leads to weight regain, regardless of lifestyle interventions, and should therefore be considered a chronic therapy to prevent weight regain and associated undesirable outcomes related to #Obesity.

My brain needs to chill out.

I watched a video complaining about all the rising food costs in the #usa and noticed the person complaining was really big.

Then immediately thought - "Well maybe the rising food costs are a good thing for the 73% of Americans who are obese or overweight." Then horror laughed to myself for a few minutes.

I do think it's a bad thing, especially for poor families.

But maybe MONEY will finally solve the #obesity issue. Replace it with STARVATION!

When you can predict health outcomes based on postcodes, the issue is much more than individual choice.
Mothers and kids in the outer suburbs don't choose to be more obese than those in the inner suburbs. Obesigenic environments drive health inequities.

The Age · Postcode lottery means some mothers – and their babies – are more likely to be overweight or obeseBy Wendy Tuohy

'The study, presented at this year’s European Congress on #Obesity in Málaga, Spain, found that #married men were 3.2 times more likely to be #obese than unmarried men, but there was no increase in obesity risk for married women.

#Marriage also increased the odds of being overweight by 62% in men and 39% in women.'

Those chunky doggos provide new insights into dog & human obesity.

“Studying the dogs showed us something really powerful: owners of slim dogs are not morally superior. The same is true of slim people. If you have a high genetic risk of obesity, then when there’s lots of food available you’re prone to overeating and gaining weight unless you put a huge effort into not doing so,” said Dr Eleanor Raffan of Cambridge U.
