Did I tell you there was an #ostrich farm down the road from our holiday home in #Trendelburg? 😀 Ah yes, please ignore the couple in the background getting busy ... 🫦🤭
Let me tell you, the booming mating calls of #ostriches are very loud. But the #mating is very graceful, like a dance. If you're interested, I can upload a short video

Ostrich on the Path

During our visit to the Gone Wild Safari near Alexandria, Louisiana, we came across an ostrich (Struthio camelus). I stopped the car to take a picture, and the ostrich began approaching, clearly hoping for some feed. Unfortunately, my cup of feed had already been stolen—thanks to the camel at the entrance. That camel was a real thug!

Look how it has the right # of toes - it's the only bird in the world with two toes on each foot!

My felted Easter Ostrich is still in progress. The feet (claws?) need still to be defined, hence hidden.

And we’ll, it is not stable.

Why a real ostrich is stable is a wonder. Probably peeked at the Segway and thought it would try the same. Amazing, how birds learn from such a complex technology. Imagine it would have seen an airplane, it might even have tried to fly.

Anna Maria de'Medici had a passion for collecting such baroque pearl curios, each fashioned into different figures that could be animal or human, real or fantastical.
