Record-challenging heat to build over #Southwest, including over 100 F in #Phoenix

Temperatures will reach triple digits over part of the interior Southwest into this weekend, and dry air paired with the heat will rise the risk of #wildfires.

"Temperatures will run 10-20 degrees Fahrenheit above historical averages at the peak, with records challenged. Factoring in April sunshine, which is equivalent to sunshine in August, AccuWeather RealFeel® Temperatures can spike to 10 degrees or more above the actual temperature during the day.

"'Phoenix is likely to experience its first 100 F or higher reading of the year on Thursday,' Zehr said, 'Friday and Saturday may also top 100.'

"The average date for the first 100 is May 2 at Phoenix. The earliest date was March 26, 1988."

So... yeah. It worked. We're going to do it next week as well. My plan is to be at Copper Star by 6:45a, walking the short distance to the rally point at 7:00 to start, getting setup and ready (not that there's much to do). As mentioned, 7:30a starts peak time, so hopefully others can be in place by then.

I’m told the event happens every Monday morning at 9a in an effort to get ahead of the upcoming heat.

A yellow rose surprise in a rose bush severely damaged by the heat waves last summer in Phoenix. About half the leaves growing are still damaged, small and mottled yellow and green. Some are larger but dark green with maroon on the leaf edges. Then Voilá this huge rose near the ground! I encourage you to join a protest in your area today. You don’t need a sign. Just show up.

Eigentlich hat keine:r mehr daran gezweifelt, doch, wie wir schon in der Vergangenheit gelernt haben, gilt auch in der Rundfunk- und Medienpolitik ein Vertrag erst, wenn die Tinte der Unterschriften trocken ist.

Was die „Anstalten“ aus dem neuen Staatsvertrag ableiten werden, und welche Schlüsse zur „Bündelung“ sie ziehen werden, wird uns also in den nächsten Monaten beschäftigen. Sicher ist: Jetzt wird es ernst!

Der NDR wird morgen eine neue Intendantin wählen. Wobei die Frage erlaubt sein muss, wieviel „Wahl“ dem Rundfunkrat da eigentlich bleibt, wenn es überhaupt nur eine Kandidatin für den wichtigen Job gibt. Das Gremium kann den „Vorschlag“ morgen entweder mit 2/3-Mehrheit annehmen, oder der Verwaltungsrat muss innerhalb eines Monats eine:n neue:n Kandidat:in vorschlagen.

Isn’t this odd? Saw something out of place from the corner of my eye when I backed the car out earlier today to go to a store. How did these 2 boxes of stemware come to be placed under our junipers bush on the corner? I moved them to the curb about 4 hours ago and they are still there. I just can’t puzzle out why they are there. Maybe someone could write a #Microfiction for this? #Phoenix #Odd

2 small boxes holding about 19 glass stemware pieces are setting on the corner sidewalk at the curb. They were moved out several feet from having been under the juniper bush. Sidewalk and boxes near the juniper bush. Shadows from the bush speckle the sidewalk.
