The heavy lifting (Badum tsss) to get the cup mostly came down to this lift.

185kg deadlift.

I fumbled hard on squat, got nowhere near my max (failed on depth 2 out of 3 attempts, sigh).

Bench was aight, but left a couple of kilo’s on the platform there too.

REAL SCIENCE, Not BRO SCIENCE 💪🌱

Bradie Crandall, aka Vegan Hercules, is a powerhouse in the USA powerlifting scene, Bradie has already reached international standards at a young age—all while fuelling his success on a vegan diet.

With a PhD in Chemical Engineering, Bradie takes a scientific approach to training and nutrition:

🧪 “I take a very scientific approach to my diet and training. That’s one big advantage I feel that I have over most powerlifters who tend to heavily rely on bro science.”

🔥 “People rarely give me a hard time about being vegan because I’m typically stronger than them. My best advice for a new vegan lifter? Get stronger than the critics and let your results speak for themselves.”

⚙️ “I view the human body as a mechanical object. This lens allows me to use my technical training as an engineer to take a calculated approach to optimizing athletic performance.”
Bradie is proving that plant-powered athletes can dominate in strength sports. Keep an eye on this rising star! 🌱🏋️‍♂️

2025 marks my 7th year of consistent strength training.

That doesn’t mean that I’ve been training EFFECTIVELY for all those years. The first 2 years I wasn’t training heavy enough and didn’t really know how getting more muscular “worked”. I did manage to get my first pull-up and get to a 100kg deadlift.

From 2020 onwards, I’ve been coached by good coaches and started adding mass and strength. Went from 62kg bw to 73kg bw and learned what it means to train hard.

Posting a rare video because after not lifting over 200lbs for all of 2024 as I built back from a wrist injury—I tested my deadlift up to 244lbs tonight! (110.5 kilos) that’s a personal record jump of 28lbs, almost 13 kilos🙌🏻 #powerlifting

Holy shit, after today's lifts I just realized I'm only 5 pounds away from the 1000lb club, which I haven't been in for over a decade. I could toss that 5lbs on the squat or dead lift bar and be done with it.

10 years after really f'n my back up doing deadlifts I never thought I'd be back to lifting this heavy (heavy for me anyway) in my mid 40's.

Stats this week:

Squat: 345lbs
Deadlift: 415lbs
Bench: 235lbs

Let's see what coach has programmed for next week.

Did my first #powerlifting meet! I hit all my lift attempts: squat 150 kg (330.75 lbs), bench 105 kg (231.53 lbs), and deadlift 202.5 kg (446.51 lbs). I likely could have pushed a bit more on squat and deadlift but I’m happy with those numbers, but bench was clearly a max. I got first place! I was the only one in my weight class and age division but I’ll take it! Definitely want to do another meet now!
