A dangerous #Ecoli strain has emerged; a small #mutation may explain its rise
A sweeping genetic analysis by researchers at #CDC suggests a tiny mutation in one of the #bacteria's molecular weapons may be behind the strain's rise. The mutation the CDC researchers found was in one of these #T3SS effectors, a protein called #EspW. The CDC researchers suggest this could help E. coli when it's on #lettuce and other #produce.

These might look #lazy, but are actually reasonable strategies:

- resist pointless #tasks to create time for deep thinking,
- set #boundaries at work to avoid #burnout,
- say “no” to tasks, resisting that we should always strive to #produce more,
- automate #repetitive tasks to free up time for #creative tasks.

Holly Loff, a grant writer in Western Colorado & the fmr dir of the Eagle River Watershed Council, said a continued pause on funding would cause a lot of #financial pain for communities near the #ColoradoRiver, such as those with economies dependent on water-based recreation, & people far away, like those who buy #produce that is grown w/ Colorado River #water.

"Our #economy is going to be impacted. It's…far reaching. I really can't think of how anyone can avoid being impacted."

A warmer than expected Sunday. We saw my brother and his family at the beach and despite having to stand in the sun and watch their kid (she's younger than my kids so needs a bit more supervision) it was a nice time. I did get a headache from the sun though, despite wearing hat and sunnies. This sun. It'll getcha.

Anyway this afternoon has been a bit of a fug, what with the headache and all. But I made icing for the cake and I also picked more nectarines. Here's a picture of some I took for my relatives for their drive home

I want to buy a new #stocktrough.

I don’t NEED to buy one, but with the #Wiltipoll #sheep arriving next month, I thought it might be a good idea to add to our existing water supply for them & the #alpacas.

I previously bought from a Bendigo firm but that business has now gone.

My local #produce store doesn’t sell them & online the price seems unreasonable - upwards of AUS$400! That’s not counting delivery, which seems to average around $125!

Looking for about 200 litre capacity.

Hmmm.

“In Kericho and other parts of #Kenya, AI-powered #tools have become increasingly popular among small-scale #farmers seeking to improve the #quality and #quantity of their #produce.

#Pests, #diseases and a lack of #technical #knowhow mean farmers have become accustomed to suffering crop losses on a large scale. They used to rely on advice from agricultural extension officers – professionals deployed by local governments to provide educational services to farmers – but their numbers have declined in recent years due to inadequate funding.”

Who doesn't like bodega cats, those charming felines peeking out from beneath the crunchy snacks or lolling on boxes of soda? And they're good mousers, too.

But you know what else are good mousers? Pythons! That's why Stop & Shop is happy to introduce ~ reticulated pythons ~ to all its branches! Look for them stretched out along the entire length of the #produce section & weaving in & out of the megapacks of toilet paper. Remember, they almost never kill adult humans ☺️
