Chilling in the studio earlier with some recently-acquired East German lounge/schlager vinyl, I suddenly noticed that one of them includes a German language cover version of Gyöngyhajú lány, Omega's 1969 prog hit.

An oddly Mitteleuropean coincidence.

Here's my drum cover of "The Perfect Element" by Pain of Salvation!

For Sandro, who decided to enter the room in the middle of the recording!
Feel free to blame him for all the mistakes 😄

I used the live version for the final part, as I think that's amazing - and also saves some drumming 😁

Hope you like it!

Taking a break from soap-box posts to share a #prog / #progmetal gem I love.

Toehider covered "Hocus Pocus", originally a purely improvised track by the prog band Focus. Even though it wasn't intended as a satire, the track feels like a tongue-in-cheek rendition of classical prog.

What I love about Toehider's cover in particular is that he really stayed true to the subversion of the original, by adding a little hat-tip to online influencer cliches.

Do you like music with a story? Do you like SciFi? Do you like being rendered into sludge and fed to the great machine that dominates the Earth?
If you answered Yes to the first two but No to the third, you may enjoy my space-rock-opera Escape the Homeworld, a musical adventure that spans the solar system!
