For those curious about the #R2D2 model I #3Dprinted, it came with two "3mf" files that contained 15 "plates", each plate holding a collection of parts. Each plate used one color of filament, making it easy to print. One image below is a close-up of Plate 3 of silver parts. 177 pieces in all.

#R2D2 #3Dprinting progress. Most of the parts have been printed. Positioned some to see how it will look. Next: print the remaining parts (including some translucent lens covers), glue on the tiny parts, wait for the electronics and screws to arrive.
