I linger before the stone angel, whose bowed figure touches my soul. His sorrow becomes tangible in the cold stone. My fingers wish to stroke the curved wings, offering comfort where none seems possible. In his timeless grief, I find a strange peace. He watches over the past, while I merely pause on my journey to preserve his silent story.

Ich verweile vor dem steinernen Engel, dessen gesenkte Gestalt meine Seele berührt. Seine Trauer wird greifbar im kalten Stein. Meine Finger möchten über die geschwungenen Flügel streichen, Trost spenden, wo keiner möglich scheint. In seinem zeitlosen Schmerz finde ich seltsame Ruhe. Er wacht über Vergangenes, während ich nur kurz innehalte auf meinem Weg, um seine stille Geschichte zu bewahren.

All along the waterfront are 23 quotes from writers of all types, poets, novelists, and playwrights, placed on contemporary concrete plaques or inlaid metal text on wooden 'benchmarks'.

My favourite is:
"It’s true you can’t live here by chance,
you have to do and be, not simply watch or even describe. This is the city of action, the world headquarters of the verb"

This is not that.

C'est l'heure de la toilette ! Ils sont en train de monter un échafaudage tout autour de la statue de Leifur Eriksson, le navigateur viking qui a découvert l'Amérique 500 ans avant Christophe Colomb. Durant ce temps de rénovation/restauration, je ne serais pas surpris que sur le contreplaqué figure des photos grandeur nature de l'œuvre sur les quatre côtés.

Des ouvriers sont en train de visser des plaques de bois sur un échafaudage métallique avec des filets de sécurité vert et qui va enfermer quelques temps une statue. Au pied de cet ensemble, des plots de sécurité orange et du ruban à balise ont été déployés pour former un périmètre de sûreté, notamment à l'attention des touristes. Derrière, une grande église : la Hallgrimskirkja. Son horloge affiche 18h35.
