Dev-log # 5.0 Brainstorming and scoping
We had a nice brainstorming session with @YannKervran , @khaleer , @esklarski and @NiwlCraft , focusing on gameplay.
We explored various options for the way players will transform scrap metal and mechanical parts into ingots in the Solar Foundry, and then cast ship parts to assemble in the Hangar, engines in the Makerspace.
Giiba had the idea to model the crafting system after the cooking in BotW.

It merged with other shipyards to become part of the Upper Clyde Shipyards in 1968, which went on to be liquidated in the early 1970s, leading to the famous Work-In led by local shop stewards including Jimmy Reid and Jimmy Airlie. The shipyard was sold off by the liquidators and was later used to build oil rigs. It finally closed for good in 2001. It's now home to the campus of West College Scotland.
The remains of the slipway at the John Brown and Company shipyard in Clydebank. Founded in 1851, many world renowned ships were built here, including the RMS Lusitania, the HMS Hood, the RMS Queen Mary and the QE2, the last of the great Cunard liners to be launched in the Clyde (on this very slipway).

The original Vulcan was scrapped in 1873, by which time canals had been superseded by railways as the fastest way to transport large numbers of people over long distances, but this replica was built in 1987 by apprentices at a shipyard in Govan. It's now housed in the Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial Life in Coatbridge.
This is a replica of the Vulcan, the world's first all-iron hulled boat. It was designed to carry passengers to and from Glasgow along the Forth and Clyde Canal. Launched in 1819, it was pulled by two shire horses and could carry up to 200 people, and helped turn the canal in Scotland's first mass transit system.

The Skelpies
These 10-metre/33ft stainless steel sculptures by Ayrshire sculptor John McKenna stand on the banks of the River Clyde in Coronation Park, Port Glasgow as tributes to local shipbuilders.
The two workers are wielding riveting hammers and if you look closely their multi-faceted bodies are beautifully riveted or welded together.
The design was chosen by a public poll.
