I'm going to put a hard deadline on me ditching Telegram and WhatsApp in favour of Signal to the end of 2025. If you dont care enough about me and our privacy to occupy 80 MB of memory on your phone and spend 3 minutes signing up, I dont think I'd like to speak with you anyway.

Ça évite de déranger un contact :)

Ich lege Signal-Chatgruppen an, damit ich Einladungslinks griffbereit habe, wenn nächste Woche zu Schulbeginn wieder alle selbstverständlich WhatsApp verwenden wollen.

Yeaah, I persuaded another person of my family to ditch Windows and move to Linux. Not because of data privacy (he doesn't care about providing Google and such with his personal data) but because of performance. I'll install it on his computer over the summer.

I also pushed quite a few people to install Signal (and they do use it, at least to talk to me).

Small achievements but it's better than nothing!

I've been dabbling with instant messengers and so far @signalapp has been the least worst.

but.. although it can be installed on additional Linux and MS-Windows PCs to use the same account easily, I was annoyed I couldn't install an Android tablet as an additional device. Very frustrating if you have a family member with an Android tablet as their "main PC", and you're trying to migrate them over from Viber, where it all Just Works.

Until I found the alternate @mollyim fork Android signal client, which appears to Just Work for multiple Android devices. Great!!!

Are there any plans for incremental #backups aka a more efficient #backup process for #Signal chats? I'm not too fond of writing a daily backup file of several gigabytes to my device storage and Signal occupying triple that amount of space for Signal to have these backups succeed. @signalapp @Mer__edith

How to get rid of #Meta #AI button in #WhatsApp on Android:

1. Open Android settings
2. Go to Apps
3. Go to WhatsApp
4. Tap #uninstall

I switched to the Signal app from Telegram. One thing I miss is web browser–based access. I usually used Telegram on my PC through a web browser, but Signal doesn't have an official web client.
