WHY IS THIS LENS SO RIDICULOUSLY THICC?
Jupiter-9 m39/Zenit made by LZOS
(Sorry, phone's macro-mode makes the lens to look *smaller* than it actually is )

Goldberg Variations
Two ways to copy an 85mm Carl Zeiss Sonnar lens: Kiev 4A with an Arsenal-made 85mm Jupiter-9 lens, and a Zenit 3M with a LZOS-made Jupiter-9 (m39/Zenit mount) lens.

Not every lens is about perfection.
Some are about soul, flaws, and a certain kind of magic that modern glass just doesn’t give you.
This was shot with one of my favourite vintage Russian lenses — a Helios 44 — mounted on my Leica. Softness, swirls, character... exactly what I love for personal work and storytelling photography.
I just published a new blog post about why I use old Soviet lenses on my Leica M10, M6 and M3 — and why these imperfect tools still matter today.
