One of the idler tires has shipped. I'll be ready when it gets here. I even have a torque test tape, so if they are still out of spec after The new idler rubber replacement, there is a potentiometer on the main board to adjust that.

So, why do I need to do maintenance on this deck? Because it is 45 years old. Haven't touched the electronics on it. Power supply is over specced, all 4 voltage supplies are fused and in spec. Still, I will need to address the large electrolytic at some point.
Why do I still use it? 20hz-20khz on metal tape, direct drive motors, 69dB snr with dolby B and with outboard dbx, so quiet you would not think it is tape.

This gives access to the mechanical and rubber parts, yet is still functional so it can be tested. Fast forward and rewind barely engaged and play stopped because the lack of rotation of the take up hub. A bit of rubber renew and that'll buy me some time for the replacement idler tire to come in from Europe. I ordered one from two different places / countries to make sure I get one sooner than later. #tape #maintenance #Technics #cassette #repair #diy #electronics

Doing some maintenance on my #Technics RS-M88 professional tape deck. The nice thing about this deck is that it is designed for easy access for maintenance. Two thumb screws removes the clear door panel, four screws removes the cassette receptacle door itself, and after loosening the door rails, I can remove the aluminum back cover. This deck is direct drive, so no belts involved in the transport, but it does use a belt for the tape counter, an idler tire and a pressure roller. #tape #cassette

Sluchawki, z ktorych od poczatku lat 90 korzysta bardzo wielu DJ-ow, rowniez tych najbardziej znanych, jak chociazby #Westbam

Dlaczego? Bo sa NIEZNISZCZALNE - a jak jakims cudem komus uda sie je zniszczyc to maja na tyle modulowa konstrukcje, ze wymiana elementow jest niezwykle latwa.

Kolejny plus - glosnosc. I nie, nie mowie tu o stereotypowym "jak glosno to znaczy, ze dobrze" - te sluchawki nie brzmia jakos ultra "wybitnie" w kontekscie jakosci dzwieku jako takiej (chociaz sa bardzo dobre i w tym), maja raczej neutralne brzmienie, dlatego nadaja sie na sluchawki monitorujace, ktore kazdy moze dopasowac jakims equalizerem pod siebie, ale przede wszystkim sa glosne, a to jest najwazniejsze dla DJow i wszelkiej masci realizatorow dzwieku, kamerzystow, itp.

Dwa najwazniejsze parametry:
1. Glosnosc: 120 dB
2. Pasmo przenoszenia: 16 Hz - 22 000 Hz (praktycznie cale pasmo slyszalne przez czlowieka)

I do tego wspomniana niezniszczalnosc - uslyszalem kiedys, ze gdyby zrzucic #gramofon #Technics #SL1200 #MK2 na czolg z drugiego pietra, to predzej zniszczony zostanie czolg niz gramofon - i podobnie jest z tymi sluchawkami ;)

This paper is aimed at a contribution to the intellectual historiography of the concept of technique. My results are founded on an extensive analysis of entries dedicated to the noun technique and its cognates in French, English and German dictionaries published in the 19th century. The core hypothesis consists in the idea that the association between the Greek word technè and technique (as well as “technics”, and “#technology” in its 20th-century meaning) has not been continuously transmitted over time: rather, such an association is an invention made in a relatively recent past. By taking into account that a tacit rule normalized the use of adjectives (technique, technical, technisch) and rejected the use of nouns (technique, technics, Technik) in the twilight of the 18th century, I shall argue that the lexicographical recognition of those nouns is linked to a growing historiographical and philosophical interest in them.
