Bosses are always keen to “reduce the cost of labour”

#TikTok plans in #Germany follow a tried and tested method whereby tech giants outsource services to countries with lower wages and weaker labor protections. In #Kenya, for example, TikTok is already using the subcontractor #Teleperformance The hourly pay there? $2.30.

These columns of ads…not really looking for applicants underscore the challenges facing US #TechWorkers & the striking disparities in the current #immigration landscape. As restaurants, meatpackers & countless other businesses now risk having workers targeted by #ICE, #tech employers have…escaped #Trump admin scrutiny for use of #ForeignLabor. Among companies sponsoring many #H1B employees for #GreenCards …are ones aligned w/ #Trump, such as #Oracle, #Palantir & #Musk’s #Tesla.

The #Tech Recruitment Ruse That Has Avoided #Trump’s Crackdown on #Immigration

“This ad is for a PERM filing,”she said. “A filing for a green card.”

To anybody familiar w/the #PERM system, those words meant the ad was not really intended to find applicants.…One of the most overlooked yet consequential corners of the US immigration system: the process by which employers sponsor #TechWorkers w/temporary #H1B #visas as a first step to getting them the #GreenCard….

It’s been a minute since I have actually seen Craig in my feed. I feel good but overwhelmed and getting stuff done, just not the right stuff…

But as your unofficial #InfoSec Shop Steward it’s time to stop working for the man, pick up the things that lift you, hobbies, family, friends, or if you’re like me, the trees.

The fancy AI company, and every post on your bosses LinkedIn, is telling them that AI GIVES at least 30% of productivity boost. It doesn't matter the specifics.. It doesn't matter your opinion about it. They will push AI because, in their minds, they see profit potential. Also, they think that the competition is doing the same.

It's all about capitalists ambition and fear making pression in the weakest spot. The tech workers will be squeezed.

This is where my clear tech workers bias shows. This shit has been prevalent in transportation, retail, chain restaurants, factory work, anywhere they have high turnover or hire and fire large groups of people regularly. I had Neighbor’s kids answer weird personality questions with the camera on to judge their fit for a role. That was for an analyst role at a large financial institution before this recent AI takeover!

actionnetwork.orgTell Microsoft To Stop Partnering With Israel's GenocideBREAKING: Microsoft is a core partner in Israel’s AI-powered massacres of Palestinians. Leaked documents published on Jan. 23, 2025, expose the deep partnership between Israel’s military operations and Microsoft.  Take action: mpowerchange.org/microsoft We now know that Israel’s military used Microsoft’s cloud platform (Azure), a “suite of communications and messaging systems,” millions of dollars of engineering support, and more. Take action with us — and support the Microsoft workers organizing to cut ties with the IDF. Israel’s so-called “demands of the war” on Gaza called for outside tech support. To that end, Israel’s military operational capabilities were “upgraded” during the current war in Gaza thanks to the “wonderful world of cloud providers” that enabled “very significant operational effectiveness.” The sanitized language of “operational effectiveness” is a weak cover for Israel’s AI-powered war machine, unleashed on Gaza for 15 months. Israel’s AI program “has been a behind-the-scenes force accelerating the death toll in Gaza, which has claimed 45,000 lives….” Microsoft has lofty public-facing AI goals. These include AI for Humanitarian Action: “aimed at harnessing the power of AI to support disaster response and recovery, help ensure the safety and wellbeing of children around the world, protect refugees and displaced people, and promote respect for human rights.” The Jan. 23rd exposé shows that Microsoft has caused the opposite of their stated aims, and its actions of support for Israel accelerated an AI-powered genocide. Microsoft supported what the International Criminal Court sees as “plausible genocide. Microsoft should be held accountable.
