#TemperatureBlanket
-using temps not from your own region. Some people choose to record a year of a place they are planning to visit, or of a childhood hometown, or a year of weather in a friend's city to give to a friend.
-other than calendar year: a 365/6 day span dating from or up to a landmark birthday, or from a baby's birth, or other landmark event. Or using a year from a different calendar, e.g. Rosh Hashanah to Rosh Hashanah, usually not 365 days. 4/4

-choosing your own town/city's temp every day, or the high temp where you are that day, including vacations/travel. If the latter, choosing how to note that you are in a different region - a carry-along thread/yarn can work for this, a color that can later convey some memory of where that travel was to, such as variegated in warm colors for visit to warmer clime, cool colors for trip to say, ski, or flag colors of country you visited. 3/

-Some people use both high and low temps per day, half a row of each, a more colorful blanket but more work. In some regions, that difference is less than 10 degrees for parts of the year; if you wanted a really varied blanket, you'd have to go for more colors.
-whether/how to note particular weather events: snow, unusual rainfall, volcano eruptions... I use carry-alongs, fuzzy thread or laceweight yarn in white for snow. 2/

Deciding what temperatures to use. Most people go for high temperature of day, but whose high temp? Weather service/weather station in general area? A thermometer on your own property? Temp at set time, the usual warmest time of day? I choose high temperature waking hours, bc our area has days where high temp is at midnight and then it slides down steadily and is 10° cooler by sunrise, so high recorded temp doesn't reflect weather *experience* 1/

Sorry one more #temperatureblanket concern.

The pattern I love calls for worsted (4) yarn and an H 5.0 mm hook. It produces a small blanket approximately 40” x 56”.

The yarn I love and have painstakingly chosen colors of is bulky (5). How much bigger will this make the blanket?

I hope the answer is it will wind up being the size of a throw blanket so about 50” x 60” because that would be perfect. Any chance of that?

My sister and I just spent a lot of time nailing down the colors for my #temperatureblanket. I’m so excited but I do wonder if I’ll regret merging the top two and bottom two temperature ranges. I did this because 10 colors were just too many.

I’ve included a screenshot of the colors with the ranges next to them and then a screenshot of the avg temps for last year. I don’t remember many days this winter when it’s been below 21° but do I want to mark when it does happen? Please say no. #crochet

So during 2022 I knitted a thing called a temperature blanket, which is where for each line is a new day and a colour represents the temps.

Reds are 29c+ / Orange is 23c - 28c / Green is 18c - 22c / Dark blue is 12c - 17c / Light blue is 06c - 11c. The purple yarn is what separates the months.

I finished it on Sunday and I was a bit delirious at the end (it was so freaking heavy). But I'm happy with it. And I'm starting on 2023's blanket now! #knitting #temperatureblanket
