r1w1s1I’ve been exploring a more minimalist approach in my tools lately, and part of that includes trying to use nvi more often instead of Vim. To make the transition easier (for myself and anyone else interested), I put together a simple nvi quick reference:<br><br><a href="https://4c6e.xyz/nvi.html" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">https://4c6e.xyz/nvi.html</a><br><br>It’s not meant to be exhaustive, just a practical guide to help get things done with a lighter touch.<br><br><a href="https://snac.bsd.cafe?t=nvi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#nvi</a> <a href="https://snac.bsd.cafe?t=vi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#vi</a> <a href="https://snac.bsd.cafe?t=vim" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#vim</a> <a href="https://snac.bsd.cafe?t=minimalism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#minimalism</a><br>

Justine SmithiesQuestion for all you <code>ksh</code> users out there. At the moment I'm using emacs mode as it is similar to what I was used to in bash. But if I was to try and fully master <code>vi</code> mode in my <a href="https://snac.smithies.me.uk?t=ksh" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#ksh</a> interactive shell is there a way to display in the <code>PS1</code> prompt what mode it is in ?? I have tried the man page but don't see anything ? Been playing around in vi mode and sometimes I'm forgetting what mode I'm in, so it would be handy if you could somehow either change the prompt or cursor ? 🙃<br><a href="https://snac.smithies.me.uk?t=freebsd" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#FreeBSD</a> <a href="https://snac.smithies.me.uk?t=vi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Vi</a> <a href="https://snac.smithies.me.uk?t=oksh" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Oksh</a><br>
