CLondoner92 (New Account)<p>West <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/Yorkshire" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Yorkshire</span></a> has secured a £2.1 billion government funding boost to bring trams back by 2028, supporting a multibillion-pound economic uplift. The Mass <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/Transit" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Transit</span></a> network’s first phase will create two tram lines: the Leeds Line, from St James’s University <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/Hospital" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Hospital</span></a> to White Rose, and the Bradford Line, linking <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/Bradford" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Bradford</span></a> and <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/Leeds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Leeds</span></a> city centres. The project is the region’s largest infrastructure scheme in decades and part of the integrated <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/Weaver" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Weaver</span></a> Network, connecting trams, buses, trains, walking, and cycling routes. The funding also supports bus stations in Bradford and <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/Wakefield" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Wakefield</span></a>, bus priority measures, cycleways, and access improvements. The scheme aims to benefit over 675,000 people, particularly in deprived communities, and is expected to create 33,000 jobs and unlock £26bn in growth. Public consultation is planned for 2026, with construction beginning in 2028.<br><a href="https://www.westyorks-ca.gov.uk/all-news-and-blogs/major-funding-boost-secured-for-west-yorkshire-trams/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">westyorks-ca.gov.uk/all-news-a</span><span class="invisible">nd-blogs/major-funding-boost-secured-for-west-yorkshire-trams/</span></a></p>
