April 7 is International Beaver Day. While a species of “least concern” according to the IUCN Red List of mammals, numbers of North American beavers have been literally decimated since colonization.

An abandoned fish pond. Operations ceased being profitable, so this and a few more adjoining ponds are left alone by people. A great place for birds. Hope this won't change.
