Dark patterns killed my wife’s Windows 11 installation

Last night, my wife looks up from her computer, troubled. She tells me she can't log into her computer running Windows 11, as every time she enters the PIN code to her account, the login screen throws up a cryptic error: "Your credentials could not be verified". She's using the correct PIN code, so that surely isn't it. We opt

Big @Vivaldi release. Even more customization and a nice, new, shiny tab button to find all your tabs, even on other synced devices.

If you are one of those that likes to have things exactly your way, this release is for you!

my dad (70+) has a fully functional laptop and desktop pc that totally fulfills his purposes but upgrading to win11 does not work on either device, so i'm wondering what his best options are if not wanting to buy two new devices. We're looking for someone to put linux on, since i can only remotely assist. Would you recommend Ubuntu or some other distribution? It's supposed to run the usual office stuff / browsing so i guess anything will do, but if some are easier to switch from windows, any recommendations or tips i could look into are most welcome . Thanks!

Statcounter claims that 45% of Windows users are still on Windows 10, 49% on Windows 11 and the rest on older versions of Windows.

Microsoft still says they will end support for Windows 10 next month. If you are still on Windows 10, what are you going to do?

Today's work computer nightmare: whenever they did last night in the windows update broke dragon.

So I'm using windows speech. Which is almost good enough, but has a fatal flaw.

However, when I started it up, it said "windows speech is being phased out, would you like to try windows voice access"

So I tried voice access. It is slower by a lot, does not seem to remember the new words that I try to add when I do correction, puts up an obnoxious title bar that wastes screen real estate, and the correction dialogue is almost as useless as the one in windows speech.

So I guess I'm using windows speech until I learn how to unbreak dragon. (The IT people at an idea about that, which I am pursuing.)
