This might be controversial, but #RobertJenrick had a perfect right to say what he said because xenophobia isn't illegal as far as I know.

But The #BBC presenter had a perfect right to call him #xenophobic because that's exactly what the word means, fear of foreigners or outsiders.

There was nothing to apologise for.

Now #Jenrick is out to score political points and he's using people in a weaker position to do that.

So it's also fair to say Jenrick is a nasty selfish manipulator. In short he's a first class wanker.

But that's just my personal #opinion.

@jon Aggressive sunsetting is annoying, but has been tolerated for a long time. Linux is great, but there's no new uptick in the understanding of that. The real driving forces are two other, newer developments:

(1) #Microsoft is using #AI #spyware to snoop on EVERYTHING that appears onscreen, thus turning a PC monitor into a #telescreen right out of Orwell's 1984. Microsoft's promises to back down on this Orwellian move are being dismissed (rightly) as lies — either flat-out lies about what they're doing in the present, or mere temporary retreats, with every intention of reimposing the spyware as soon as they think no one's paying attention anymore. (This was my own reason for expelling Microsoft from my desktop in favor of Linux.)

(2) Microsoft is an American company. Now that the #USA is a #xenophobic #fascist #dictatorship, numerous entire nations are realizing (again, rightly) that they would be fools to continue relying on any American corporate or governmental entity for anything whatsoever — especially something as critical and pervasive as desktop computing. So they begin addressing the problem, first of all, by giving Microsoft the boot.

The Congressional #Hispanic Caucus [#CHC] released a statement hitting back at the #Republicans attack on its chairperson.

“This #xenophobic rhetoric from #Trump Republicans proves that you can follow the #law, get your papers, become a #citizen, get elected to #Congress — swear multiple #oaths to protect & defend the #Constitution — & all you will ever be to Trump Republicans: an ‘illegal immigrant,’” the group wrote in a post.

#Espaillat accused #Trump of fostering an “environment of fear among the immigrant community” during his Tues night speech, & told a story about a US citizen who had been wrongfully detained by #ICE as part of Trump’s crackdown on undocumented immigrants.

The #NRCC, which once posted a wildly #xenophobic ad showing AI-generated images of immigrants flooding US national parks, issued a new installment in its catalogue of extremely #racist posts, this time targeting Espaillat.

#Georgescu has praised Romania’s 1930s #fascist leaders & lauded #Russia’s … #Putin as “a man who loves his country”. Polls show he has a clear lead in the 4 May rerun, although it is not certain that he will be allowed to stand.

The promotion of fascist leaders & #Nazi, #racist or #xenophobic symbols are banned under Romanian #law & carry a prison sentence, although cases have rarely been brought to court.

Amid claims of “massive” social media promotion, #Georgescu, who was polling in single digits before the ballot & declared zero campaign spending, has denied any wrongdoing….

Prosecutors said earlier that they had raided 47 addresses of Georgescu’s associates as part of an investigation into alleged offences including “establishing an organisation with a #fascist, #racist or #xenophobic character” & “false statements” regarding campaign financing.

Many of the #MAGA #QAnon #propaganda videos a family member of mine watches are voiced by #TTS. I think it's likely the videos originated in a non-English speaking country and the #propagandists don't want to trigger their #xenophobic audience with a #foreign #accent. #TextToSpeech
