Sentinel

This is lovely Lómagnúpur, one of the most recognizable mountains in , with drapes of mist hanging around it.
These cloud formations are known as stacked lenticular and are created by strong winds.

In the Icelandic Coat of Arms there are 4 protectors, and one of them is the giant who lives in Lómagnúpur, protecting the coast from all evil.

A photo of an oddly shaped mountain, with a wide, flat, near-vertical front and sloping sides. The dark rock is mostly hidden by wreaths and scarves of cloud, one layer is quite low and obscures part of the lower slopes completely. Above the mountain top is a lovely, curved cap of cloud, picking up the hues of lowering sunlight. Distinct layers are visible in this disc-shaped hat.

Whale hunting has stopped, only one company with a permit now AFAIK and they didn't kill any last year. I might be wrong.

Hmmm. It seems you are correct, sadly. I was under the impression that the licences had been withheld, apparently not. It's odd because all the Icelanders I've spoken to about it have said they think it should stop as there's no domestic market for it now, and the whale-watching tours are very popular as well as lucrative. It seems the Japanese market is still demanding.
I know there was a plan to end the killing a few years ago but it came to nothing. 😢
